Upload PDF, DOCX, JPG and JPEG files into folders and publish file tables or grids with ZIP downloads and Dashboard statistics.

== Description ==

Folders Files Manager by SPS Web Designs is a free plugin for organising public files into folders and sharing them on WordPress pages or posts using shortcodes.

Upload PDF documents, DOCX documents and JPG/JPEG images. Display a folder as a table or grid with file-type icons, friendly names, Open and Download buttons, optional sizes and dates, and pagination.

= Features =
* Create and rename independent folders with a shortcode for each folder.
* Upload up to 20 files per batch, up to 192 MB each, subject to hosting limits.
* Accept only PDF, DOCX, JPG and JPEG for new uploads, with WordPress content/type checks.
* Publish table or grid lists with file-type icons and optional folder names, sizes and dates.
* Set pagination, global colours, row hover colours and UK/USA dates.
* Rename friendly labels without changing stored filenames or file URLs.
* Move or permanently delete selected files with administrator permissions and confirmation.
* Download selected files as a ZIP, with a naming popup and optional browser save-location picker.
* Keep ZIP selections across pages in the same folder; clear them when changing folders.
* Show weekly or selected-month download totals and a daily line chart on Dashboard.
* Use the bundled User Guide and accordion help.

All included features work without a product key. There is no folder count or daily upload quota. The batch/size safeguards are operational upload limits.

This edition does not include Media Library import, report exports, report email settings or a custom file-type editor. Those implementations are absent from the package; there are no locked buttons or upgrade-to-unlock controls.

= File access and statistics =
Managed uploads are public and normally stored at /wp-content/uploads/folder-file-manager/ on your own domain. This is not private document storage. Prevent file indexing requests noindex headers on compatible Apache/LiteSpeed hosting; Nginx/CDN hosts may need a header rule. Noindex does not restrict access or guarantee removal from search engines.

Dashboard statistics count requests through the plugin Download actions, including one request per file included in a selected ZIP. They are not unique visitors or proof of completed transfers. Direct file URLs, embedded playback, browser caches and the PDF viewer's own download control can bypass these counters. Dates use the site timezone. The default window is the last seven local calendar days; selected months show daily data through their end, or through today for the current month. Monthly-only legacy history is not assigned to daily chart points.

The plugin makes no remote activation, analytics, import, PDF-viewer or reporting-service calls. Aggregate activity stays in your database; visitor IPs and individual activity logs are not stored. ZIP selection IDs use sessionStorage in the current browser tab. Support and feature-suggestion links open https://sps-webdesign.co.uk only when clicked.

= Updating an earlier edition =
Existing files, URLs, shortcodes and activity history are preserved, including files with extensions this edition no longer accepts for new uploads. Old saved custom types are ignored and cannot expand the four-extension upload list. Old scheduled report emails are cleared on activation or the next administrator visit. Previous report email settings/data remain inert in the database and are not read or sent by this edition. Original Media Library attachments are not modified.

== Installation ==

1. Go to Plugins > Add New Plugin > Upload Plugin and choose folders-files-manager.zip.
2. Install and activate Folders Files Manager. For an existing installation, choose Replace current with uploaded.
3. Open Folders Files Manager. Dashboard displays statistics; open Files to create and select a folder.
4. Open Upload, choose PDF/DOCX/JPG/JPEG files and select Upload selected files.
5. Copy the folder shortcode from Files or Table display into a Shortcode block on a page or post, for example [folder_files folder="123"].
6. Configure layout/visible details in Table display, and colours/date format in Global settings.

If the older singular Folder File Manager package is active, deactivate it before activating this plural Folders Files Manager package. Existing storage keeps its singular folder-file-manager directory to preserve public URLs.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Which new files can I upload? =
PDF (.pdf), Word (.docx), and JPEG images (.jpg/.jpeg). The allowlist is fixed and checked by the server. A renamed extension alone does not bypass WordPress content checks.

= Can I add files from the Media Library or edit the file-type list? =
No. This free edition contains neither an importer nor a file-type editor.

= Does this edition send or export reports? =
No. Report pages, email settings, scheduling and report exporters are removed. Dashboard download statistics remain available.

= Are existing uploads deleted on update? =
No. Existing managed files are kept and remain listed/downloadable. Files in formats supported by older editions can still be used; the four-format rule applies to new uploads.

= Are files private? =
No. Files use public uploads URLs. Indexing controls do not provide access control.

= Is there a folder limit or product key? =
No. All included functionality is available without a key, folder quota or daily upload quota.

= Why is my upload limit below 192 MB? =
Your PHP, web server or host may impose a lower limit. The Upload tab shows the effective limit. Keep the tab open while its sequential queue runs.

= Can I download selected files from several pages? =
Yes. Selection persists across pages of the same folder in one browser tab. ZIP downloads require 64-bit PHP, sufficient temporary disk space and an archive smaller than 4 GB, with a maximum selection of 1,000 files. The default name is FFM-Report plus today's date; custom names and Browse remain available.

= What happens when I deactivate or uninstall? =
Files and database records are retained. Delete managed content deliberately through the plugin if you want it permanently removed. Any old report email schedule is cleared on activation/admin migration; this edition contains no report sender.
